CATTERALL Gala was blessed with
superb sunny weather on
Saturday, 30th May, 2009.
The procession was the largest
ever and everything went to plan
and the day rounded off with a
family barbecue and disco at the
Pickerings.
The committee would like to
thank all the local businesses
who donated prizes for the
raffle, which was won by Gail
Robinson.
In his opening address gala
president Canon Ron Greenall
said: "This is the nugget and
gem of our four local events
over the May bank holiday week -
we believe it is the jewel in
the crown - for our queen,
residents, distinguished quests
and all our visitors especially
Grace our new queen.
"The Catterall crest is three
gold nuggets set in a sea of
tranquillity and what a glorious
golden day this is weather
wise.''
Dignitaries in the procession
included Mayor and Mayoress of
Wyre Coun and Mrs Alan Vincent,

Norma Kirby.
Mrs Kirby crowned her
grandaughter and new queen is
Grace Piela Kirby, aged 11, a
pupil at Kirkland and Catterall
School. The new rosebud is
Louise Ashton, aged five.
Retiring queen was 12-year-old
Eleanor Burford and retiring
rosebud was Abigail Burford,
aged eight.
The committee would like to
thank both sets of judges who
did a tremendous job and judges
for the fancy dress were Audrey
Melia and Denise White.

Football Tournament
After a really fantastic contest
the winners were St Thomas', a
team they scored a staggering 19
goals to get to final. Garstang
Community School were the
runners up. The winning team
were Adam Phillips, Jordon
Hunter, Ellis Hancox, Josh
Whitaker, Jake Mower, Ryan
Briggs, Scott Hoffstetter and
Owen Rimmer were awarded the
Brockholes Arms Trophy which was
presented by new queen Grace
Piela Kirby.
